We value your time (and fabric) so we triple-check all of our patterns and magazines to avoid mistakes. Over the course of 26 years and hundreds of patterns, now and then an error slips by. We’re truly sorry for any confusion we may have caused. We use this page to post corrections and supplemental information.
- Follow the Leader: In our 2026 calendar, Step 2 should say “grey” fabric instead of “tan” and Step 3 should say “teal” field fabric instead of “off-white.” Here is an illustration of one of the three strip sets you’ll sew in Step 1 of the Assembly instructions.
- My Word: In The My Word alphabet pattern (Modern Quilts Illustrated #16 and the initial downloadable pattern), for the letter P, the D piece measures 1¾”×1½”. For the letter Z, the C piece measures 2½”×4″. For the number 8, the B pieces measure 6″ x 1 1/2″The current version of the downloadable pattern has been corrected.
- Next In Line: In our 2024 calendar, the Next In Line pattern D pieces should be 2 1/4″ x 2 3/4″.
- Plaid Party: In the original digital download of Plaid Party, Step 6 of Unit 1 should read, “cut 5 white strips” and page 5 (unit 4) has been revised here. The measurement in step 2 on page 11 should be 13″×2½”.
- Friends All Around: There was a printing error with the templates for Friends All Around in our 2023 calendar and Modern Quilts Illustrated #15. Click here for the revised template page. In addition the Semi-Precious quilt pattern should call for 20, not 16 blocks (as shown in the picture and diagrams.)
- Swatch: In step 4 of the Swatch pattern in A Quilter’s Guide to Solids, the Pine square should be labeled I3, not L3 (it is correct in the piecing diagram on page 11)
- Twilight: The Twilight pattern in Modern Quilts Illustrated #14 should call for 1 yard (not 1/2 yd) of the gray Drift print.
- Goodfellow: In our 2020 calendar, the Goodfellow pattern should call for 12 E pieces and 30 C pieces.
- Spice Market: In our 2019 calendar, there’s a typo in the cutting section of the Spice Market pattern. It should read “From each of the 12 fabrics, cut:”
- Reclaimed: A printing error in the Reclaimed pattern in the first printing of Issue 12 of Modern Quilts Illustrated was corrected with stickers. If, for any reason, you are missing those corrections, you can see the revised information at this link.This has been corrected in reprints.
- Diagonal Bliss: An illustration for the Diagonal Bliss pattern in MQI#9 on page 15 was flipped. The correct orientation of illustration can be seen here.
- Split Decision: The cutting directions for the Queen size version of our Split Decision pattern has a typo in the last line. The largest white strip should be 30″ x 92″, not 30″ x 72″. This has been corrected in reprints.
- Quiet on the Set: featured in Modern Quilts Illustrated #10 has a small correction. The off-white sashing strips should be cut 1 1/2″ x 38 1/2″ then later, in step 3 of the Assembly directions, it should read: Sew columns of 4 blocks to 1 1/2″ x 38 1/2″ sashing strips. [If you cut your strips 40″ long, just trim them down.]
- Accordion: This is not a correction, but an addition. If you are making the Accordion quilt using 1/4-yard cuts rather than 1/2-yard cuts, you can cut them as shown in this diagram.
